Off-Campus Services provides or co-sponsors programs and events specifically to support students living off campus.
Off-campus students are encouraged to consider how they can reduce waste by donating unwanted clothing, nonperishable food, or furniture to local community organizations.
I Am Normal is a community standards campaign sponsored by Off-Campus Services and the Town of Normal to remind students that they are citizens of Normal in addition to being Illinois State students. Staff distribute t-shirts, magnets, and keychains throughout the year with the I Am Normal pledge.
Each August as students are moving in, staff from the Division of Student Affairs and Town of Normal welcome back off-campus students. Staff go door to door in key off-campus housing apartments to let students know they are not forgotten even though they live off campus. Two thousand students receive a goodie bag of items ranging from information about hosting a responsible party and magnets about Town of Normal ordinances to information about campus and town departments and activities.
As a student, you're part of this community. Come meet Town of Normal Council members and staff; discuss what matters to you.
Since 2008, Bring It Back to Normal (BIBTN) has provided opportunities for large groups of students to give back to the community that is home to Illinois State University.
Throughout its history, Bring It Back to Normal has placed nearly 2,000 volunteers, who have completed over 5,000 hours of service. As volunteers, students have the opportunity to work with local residents and nonprofit agencies to help meet the needs of the community. Even though it is a one-day event, Bring It Back to Normal is a great way to get involved and makes a huge difference to the people of Normal (and Bloomington).
